What should I consider when thinking about graduate school?
What is the status of my application?
The Office of Graduate Admissions will notify you by email of your application number. Please allow seven to ten business days to receive the notification after you have submitted your online application and fee. After you have received you application number, you can check the status of your application by following the instructions on the Graduate Admissions website. Keep in mind that EEB cannot evaluate your application until your application is complete.
How will I know the committee’s decision?
Once the EEB Admissions Committee has reviewed your application materials and made a decision, you will be notified in writing.
What is the admission deadline?
The admissions deadline for EEB is January 1 each year. Please note that EEB’s departmental deadline is earlier than the deadlines published on the Graduate Admissions website. We encourage international students to submit their entire application packet by December 15.
What if I can’t take the GRE in my country?
Given the high relative costs of the GRE for some countries, or difficulty in taking the exam, this requirement may be waived for applicants at the discretion of the committee. The GRE can be a useful tool, but not if it prevents excellent candidates from entering grad school due to economic issues. Possible reasons for a waiver include 1) residence in a low or middle income country (as defined by the World Bank), 2) not having the test offered in one’s country of residence, or 3) having to travel over 100 miles to a testing center.
What is the University of Tennessee’s institutional code for the standardized tests?
To have your scores sent to the University of Tennessee, use the institutional code 1843. Official reports of GRE and TOEFL scores must be sent directly from the testing agencies to the Graduate Admissions.
