Thomas G. Hallam
Research Interests
Hallam's main research interests are the use of mathematical models to help solve problems in ecotoxicology and ecology. Topics of special interest are effects of toxicants on populations and communities as well as developments in population and community ecology. Research emphasis is on application of models based on processes and mechanisms at lower levels of organization, such as the individual, to solve problems at higher levels, such as populations, communities, ecosystems, and landscapes. Other directions of research include the use of high performance computers in ecological modeling and in integrated risk assessment primarily for aquatic systems. Inverse problems associated with ecological models and risk assessment are directions that will be pursued in the near future.
