Research

We grossly oversimplify the chemical relationship between plants and soils, often focusing on how a single compound or family of compounds mediate plant-soil relationships. My research aims to examine the larger chemical complexity of the rhizosphere using state of the art analytical chemistry and statistical methods. Doing this work across meaningful ecological gradients (Including latitude, precipitation, soil nutrients and genetic variation) shows how genetically based small-scale changes in the rhizosphere impact ecosystem function.
